What to do in York this August?

Whether you are planning on eating and drinking your way around the city, immersing yourself in its history, or just mooching from shop to bar, here’s some ideas of things to do in York this August …

York River Art Market – 10 – 5:30pm, 30th & 31st July, 6 & 7 August, 13 & 14 August

York River Art Market is a free award-winning event that is set just moments from us on Lendal Bridge. Why not grab a takeaway coffee and wander along the Dame Judi Dench Walk browsing the many local talents displaying their work.

Take a trip down the River Ouse in your own boat

See some of the best views our city has to offer on board a self-drive hire boat. You can even drive straight under our very own Lendal Bridge and take in the sights of our beautiful building. We definitely recommend booking in advance as they are very likely to sell out during the school holidays.

Ebor Festival at York Races – 17th – 20th August

One of the most exciting times on the racing calendar here in York, the Ebor Festival is back! This four-day event is one of the most famous in the North and attracts thousands of race-goers. Fancying a pre/post-race tipple? Just a 5-minute walk from the train station, we are the perfect stopping place.

Luna Open Air Cinema at York Minster – 8:15pm, 24th – 29th August

An unforgettable cinema experience, grab your outdoor chairs, blankets and treats for a fab summer evening at York Minster. Pre-booking is advised as it sells out very fast.

Don’t forget throughout August we are open every day from 10am for all thing’s coffee, cake and cocktails! We’ll see you soon!
